Northallerton Town Council are pleased to announce that work commenced on Monday the 21st of February to enhance the Applegarth Park.

The project is being supported in part by a government funded grant through the Playbuilder monies from North Yorkshire County Council for 8 – 13 year olds. In addition the 2 – 7 year olds area is being extended and updated, the enhancement is intended to provide accessibility for all. In addition there will be adult exercise equipment to promote a healthy lifestyle, and additional landscaping to enhance the area.

The Town Council would like to say a big thank you to all the local schools for their input and ideas during the consultation period. Recent comments from school children included those of Rebekah Smith who was excited that the Zip Wire she’d suggested was being included, Shaun McPhee was pleased there was plenty of space for them all to be able to play together, Isabelle and Claire Meeks were excited about the Supa Nova, and Luke Johnston thought the new play park was awesome!

The works have now been completed, just in time for the start of all the good weather!

Children at the Applegarth School looking at the plans

In November we had to postpone our annual Grace Gardner Trust Christmas Party, for elderly residents of Northallerton, due to the terrible weather, but we managed to r
eschedule it and it went ahead on Tuesday the 7th of February.  The party was a great success with a fantastic performance from the Northallerton Amateur Variety Company, who sang a range of old time songs, as well as an Abba Medley!

We were pleased to announce that as of the 7th of January our new lift is up and running, and is helping to make access to the Town Hall much easier.

On the run up to Christmas we had some fun events:
Santa Night on the 26th of November was a  great success, with few being put off by the cold weather, and plenty of children taking advantage of our free disco in the Town Hall.

On Sunday the 28th of November we had the Parade of the Illuminated Address with RAF Leeming. There was a church service at All Saints Parish Church, and followed by a parade of service personnel from RAF Leeming from the Church all along the High Street.
